Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014

Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 (50% vol.) is a whisky based on a smoked barley malt originating from eight farms on the Isle of Islay. This single malt is made of Concerto and Propino varieties of barley grown on the Isle. The whisky is aged exclusively on Islay; it is not cold-filtered nor are any colourants added.
Flavour: A citrusy start gives way to sweet mature fruit and delicate peat smoke. Next a subtle sea character appears, with sand, mineral notes that are complemented by toasted oak. The second swig is dominated by a balance between fruit and smoke, with a blend of apricot, peach and ripe melon gently encased in charred heather and a peaty fire. Ageing in American oak bourbon barrels gives a note of charred oak, with hints of coconut, creamy marzipan, and tobacco.
